First Aid Emergency Guide
Quick reference for common medical emergencies. Always call emergency services for serious situations.
Emergency Numbers
In case of emergency, call your local emergency services immediately:
- India: 112 (Emergency) / 108 (Ambulance)
- Fire: 101
- Police: 100
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- 1Call emergency services immediately (dial local emergency number)
- 2Place person on firm surface on their back
- 3Place heel of hand in center of chest, other hand on top
- 4Push hard and fast - at least 2 inches deep
- 5Give 30 chest compressions at 100-120 per minute
- 6Give 2 rescue breaths (tilt head back, lift chin, pinch nose)
- 7Continue cycle of 30 compressions and 2 breaths
Burns
- 1Remove person from heat source
- 2Cool the burn with cool (not ice-cold) running water for 10-20 minutes
- 3Remove any jewelry or tight clothing before swelling starts
- 4Cover burn with sterile, non-stick bandage or clean cloth
- 5Do NOT apply ice, butter, or ointments
- 6For severe burns, seek medical attention immediately
- 7Give over-the-counter pain reliever if needed
Bleeding
- 1Wash your hands if possible
- 2Apply direct pressure with clean cloth or bandage
- 3Maintain pressure for 10-15 minutes without checking
- 4If blood soaks through, add more cloth on top
- 5Elevate injured area above heart level if possible
- 6Once bleeding stops, secure bandage with tape
- 7Seek medical help for severe or persistent bleeding
Electric Shock
- 1DO NOT touch the person if still in contact with electrical source
- 2Turn off power source or disconnect power
- 3Call emergency services immediately
- 4Once safe, check for breathing and pulse
- 5Begin CPR if necessary
- 6Cover any burns with sterile gauze
- 7Keep person warm and lying down until help arrives
Choking
- 1Encourage coughing if person can cough
- 2If unable to cough/speak/breathe, perform Heimlich maneuver
- 3Stand behind person, wrap arms around waist
- 4Make fist above navel, grasp with other hand
- 5Give quick upward thrusts into abdomen
- 6Repeat until object is dislodged
- 7Call emergency services if unsuccessful
Cuts and Wounds
- 1Wash hands thoroughly
- 2Stop bleeding by applying gentle pressure
- 3Clean wound with clean water
- 4Apply antibiotic ointment if available
- 5Cover with sterile bandage
- 6Change bandage daily or when wet/dirty
- 7Watch for signs of infection (redness, swelling, pus)
Fractures
- 1Do not move injured person unless necessary
- 2Immobilize injured area
- 3Apply ice pack wrapped in cloth (not directly on skin)
- 4Do not try to realign bone
- 5For open fracture, cover wound with sterile bandage
- 6Treat for shock - keep warm, elevate legs
- 7Seek immediate medical attention
Heat Stroke
- 1Move person to cool, shaded area
- 2Remove excess clothing
- 3Cool person with wet cloths or spray water
- 4Fan the person
- 5Give cool water to drink if conscious
- 6Apply ice packs to armpits, groin, neck, and back
- 7Call emergency services - heat stroke is life-threatening
